Private Lessons

Where are you located?
Currently, lessons are given at Shanan’s in-home studio in Liberty Hill, Texas. Students will receive the exact address after a lesson has been scheduled.

What time should I arrive for my lesson?
Please aim to be five minutes early for your lesson.

What do I need to bring to my lesson?
For a trial lesson, all you need is yourself! If there is a particular piece of music you are working on or interested in learning, you may bring it. We will spend this first lesson getting to know each other, your instrument and your learning style. From then on, please bring all of your music, pencil and your creative energy to your lesson!

What age do you begin accepting students?
There is no prescribed age for beginning formal music study-it truly depends on the student. Generally, piano students may begin around the age of four while the voice may not be ready for formal lessons until much later, at the age of 10. Every student is different, so schedule your FREE trial lesson to see if your little one is a good candidate.

What is the cost for private lessons?
Please see our scheduling page for information on cost.

Recorded Sectionals

How do you choose what music to put on your site?
Music is chosen based on several factors including season, demand and overall popularity. Our goal is to provide a diverse selection for you and your choir.

My students don’t use solfege. Do you use any other methods in your videos?
At this time, we only use solfege for introducing beginner/intermediate pieces. As more teachers contribute to the database, it is likely that you will find an increasingly diverse selection of teaching methods.

Can I request a recording of a song/section?
YES! Please use our contact form to request recordings of specific songs and voice parts. Please allow up to four weeks for your request to be fulfilled.

Why does it take so long for a requested song to be placed in the database?
The short answer: copyright laws. The long answer: copyright laws. If you are in a hurry, consider requesting a virtual rehearsal instead.

I record videos for my choirs! Can I sell them in the Da Capo database?
You can! Please send an email to shanan@dacapomusicacademy.com that includes your resume and a sample of your teaching. Recordings should be no more than five minutes long. For specific questions and guidelines, please contact us by filling out this form.
